Churchill offers a unique wilderness lifestyle in a small village type setting. The area abounds with unique flora, fauna and historical features. The town itself offers excellent recreational facilities and the surrounding area is a delight to outdoor enthusiasts who may enjoy snowmobiling, off road vehicle riding, hunting and fishing.

  • From late September to early November Polar Bears congregate along the Hudson Bay coastline in anticipation of returning to the sea ice to hunt seals. This one of Churchill's most famous attractions, earning it the name of "Polar Bear Capital of the World"
  • Nature's light show - the Aurora Borealis (Northern Lights) are seen in late August and from December to late April in the night skies over Churchill.
  • Churchill is a bird watcher's paradise and from late May until August visitors visit the area to see many varied species of birds.
  • Thousands of Beluga whales which move into the warmer waters of the Churchill River estuary during July and August to calf are a summer delight to nature lovers.
  • The area offers wonderful fishing and both goose and large game hunting in season.
  • The restored historic Prince of Wales Fort across the Churchill River gives people a chance to see what life was like in the area hundreds of years ago.
